Jamie’s entry into Revolve24 Australia is special in a couple of ways. He has twice taken part in Revolve24 at Brands Hatch in the UK and now he is coming to Australia and taking part at The Bend. It’s also worth mentioning that he rides a bamboo bike!
Jamie is a Brit from Southampton in the UK. He is recently semi-retired, still young at 53 and has thoroughly picked up the cycling bug. He regularly rides sportives with his friends, for fun, camaraderie and for charity. In the UK he has raised funds for Help4Heroes and in Australia he will be riding with one of the Leukaemia Foundation teams ‘Ride as One'.
So how come Jamie is making the trip to Australia? In his own words "I worked in Australia last year for eight months although did not get to travel much and now I have the time. So having done Revolve24 in the UK, I thought, what better place to start the New Year by going back to Aus. But also just to make my mates back home a little jealous;-)”
Jamie is interested in sustainable manufacturing that uses organic materials and is low carbon producing. He has started working on projects with a co-operative group, Bamboo Bicycle Club and hopes this will be a fun new business adventure, he says that "it is more of a movement" that teaches in schools and gives to charities. So Jamie will be the best place person to say which track is preferable, or maybe they are both epic, just different? "I'd like to see how the Brands Hatch and Bend Motorsport Park compare. Brands Hatch is shorter and up/down, with a rush into Druids you get negative G-force feeling. The Bend I think will just as exhilarating with faster and longer straights, more twists, so will be different and challenging.”
