My husband Davin reminded me of a memory from many years ago. While on holiday with a bunch of high school friends, I jumped off the roof of the houseboat into the Murray. Madness I tell you! But in my defence I did watch my friends jump into the river and surface again many times before I gave it a go. 'If I don't do this now, I never will.' Yeah, I'm glad I did it, once. No Regrets. This is how I feel about signing up to do Revolve24. No Regrets.
Sharlene & Davin
In January of 2018, four girls came together and signed up to Revolve24 Team Challenge, and we had a blast! Team Confetti included Alison, Mimi, Jen and myself and our sensational pit crew Dani and Stan. We were an upbeat bunch, smiling, laughing and motivating each other but we had down times too, bad sleep, no sleep, couldn't eat, muscle pains - the list went on and on. Even the weather was against us and our pit garage flooded and all this time Davin is turning the pedals in the 24 hour solo challenge. Revolve24 Team Challenge was hard on the mind and body, I felt crap a lot! Yet felt guilty as the solo riders were doing it tough.
So why am I going back? It was one of the best events I have attended and there hasn't been many. I only started on a road bike three years ago and now I want to see how far I can push myself so if I'm signing up for this madness I need to push further. I got in touch with the girls from Team Confetti checking out what everyone was planning as we have a connection now as a decision like this cannot be made without their input.
I'm going back for me! I will have a distance goal in mind and have a number that I'm working on, anything above that will be a bonus. I'm not fast, I climb slow but I only need to keep the pedals turning for 24 hours. It's going to hurt, there will be tears, I will swear and get grumpy at Davin, and the faster riders will lap me often. I'm not out there for them - I'm riding for me.
I needed a team name, but it's strange when it's just me so Team Confetti Life has registered for Revolve24 Solo Challenge in March 2019.
Why Confetti Life? Life has changed for the better since cycling came into it.
See you in March 2019
