We are so proud that so many of our riders at the Revolve24 event in September are undertaking personal challenges and fundraising for some great charities - many of which many of us may not have come across and who really need as much support as we can give them.
Terry Keen is one such rider - he is joining us for the Solo Category in the 24 Hour Challenge - and is riding to raise funds for Grandparents Plus and tells us why:
"Grandparents Plus is the national charity which champions the vital role of grandparents and the wider family - kinship carers - in children's lives, especially when they take on the caring role in difficult family circumstances.
There are some 300,000 children being raised by grandparents and other family members in the UK because their parents are unable to, often due to bereavement, serious illness, alcohol misuse and imprisonment. Kinship carers step in to save children going into care, but often have to give up work and end up in poverty, face isolation and are left to struggle alone, frequently without any financial or practical support from local authorities.
Grandparents Plus exists to make children's lives better.
I am very proud to have met many kinship carers and Grandparents Plus people, and their commitment to help and support - often in heartbreaking circumstances - overwhelms me. But they always need help of course, and much more information and donation details are on their site www.grandparentsplus.org.uk.
Please visit them and give me a shout at this great Revolve24 event at Brands Hatch, I'll be wearing their colours!"
Thank you Terry and all the very best with your endeavours!
